About Kinran Weaving
Kinran brocade is a luxurious fabric woven with gold threads, historically regarded as the most prestigious among Japanese textiles. Originating from China’s Song Dynasty, Kinran was introduced to Japan during the Tenshō era (1573–1592) and became a specialty of Kyoto’s Nishijin weaving district.
Cherished by tea masters, samurai, and aristocrats, Kinran remains a symbol of elegance and refined taste. Gamakuchi carries on this timeless craft, creating modern accessories that weave ancient beauty into contemporary daily life.
