About Kinran Weaving
Kinran, a luxurious brocade classically woven with gold threads, traces its roots to China’s Song Dynasty. Introduced to Japan during the Tenshō era (1573–1592), it became a cherished art form in Kyoto’s Nishijin district. Historically favored by tea masters, samurai, and nobility, Kinran remains one of the most esteemed traditional textiles in Japan.
Kyoto Nai Gamakuchi reinterprets this time-honored technique into modern accessories, carrying warmth and elegance through handcrafted details in everyday moments.
